So, my first and main character is Rahrnok, as shown in the side bar. He's a warlock, and he's ugly. I even felt the need, that even though I don't REALLY do PvP, I just had to have the s3 winged helm thing because it's so scary, and warlocky. (that's a word? I'm going with it).
I leveled my warlock as a destro lock, basically modeling him as a fire mage wanna-be with a pet from the darkness that I could summon. I finally switched to what the other 58% of warlocks at level 70 have realized is best, Affliction, and I really do like it. I enjoy watching the number of debuffs I can put up on a target and like watching red numbers scroll over my target as happy, friendly green ones pop up over my heavily weighted down head.
However... all of that focus on destro for so long should have tipped us all off to something... I wanted to play a mage. So, especially since the leveling speed increase, I've been focusing on getting my other caster up to end game land. Naranan is a pretty, female mage who, funny enough, is not specced fire. (Frost Mage Tank FTW). Okay, she doesn't really tank, just grabs agro too often. I've been so depressed to see the amount of DPS I can do, especially when I pop my water elemental.
Aside: I really was avoiding talenting the water elemental for a long time because, as you know, I had a lock... so why would I want a pet with my mage. I already have a class that has a pet to deal with and had already bound away those key bindings for pets to other more useful action bar locations... I was really pretty committed to going petless. However, the lure of the +300 DPS for 45 sec. and the speed at which I just recently powered through the bloodspire ogres in Blades Edge has completely convinced me that the summon water elemental talent is almost as cool as Ice Lance. (Triple damage against frozen targets... sweetz!)
So, in any event... My mage is creeping up on my lock, and now I'll have two high level squishies to rain down fire and ice and shadow destruction from a far. Only one likes kittens, and one eats them... Or siphons their souls and turns them into crystal. Oh, warlocks.
