You broke my seduce!

...sounds like a personal problem.

Well, in some ways it is. This has happened to all of us, in all of our crowd controlling capacities. Inevitably, at some point, someone will have the wrong mob targeted and do something to it they shouldn't if that mob is supposed to be CCed. In good cases, they only whacked it with something, or shot a spell at it, or hit it with a multi-shot or something. However, sometimes you'll get the bane of the CC, the DOT placed on something and then what do you do? Well, let's see.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it... but what if it is?

Option 1) Somebody whacked the mob you were seducing and has now stopped doing damage to it. Solution: Re-seduce. There is no reason, if they have figured out the error of their ways that you can't just take that couple of extra seconds and re-seduce the target. No real harm done.

Option 2) Somebody whacked the mob you were seducing, and continues to whack the mob you were planning on seducing. Solution: Try to tell them to stop, then re-seduce. If you are working over vent or voice chat, and there is no DOT or bleed effect or something nasty like that up on the mob, then by all means, say, "Hey tank, that's the seduce mob." Hopefully, they'll hear you and move on to the mob they were supposed to be attacking.

And what if they don't... well, then you have to figure out what makes the most sense. Maybe your party leader will jump in and say something like, "Switch focus fire to purple diamond and seduce circle". Something handy like that. Then, everyone will know how to fix the problem. Maybe your party leader will say, "Oh hell, WTF OMG BBQ?!?!?" Okay... then do what you think is best... good luck.

Option 3) Somebody whacked the mob you were seducing and placed a bleed effect or DOT on the damn thing. Solution: Well crap! You will not be able to re-seduce that mob until that DOT has ticked its way to oblivion. So, you have a couple of things you could do.

Solution 1) You can use some other form of CC on the mob. Can you enslave or banish the mob? (No, not if you were seducing it in the first place you couldn't). Oh, then what? Fear yo-yo. DOT's and bleed effects can tick away all they want while you fear kite the mob around. But be careful! If your mob is position poorly to fear kite it, try to get it attracted to you through a nice searing pain or the like and once you have it well positioned, fear bomb that bad boy. Curse of Shadow and Fear are your combo of choice here. (We'll fully discuss fear kiting in instances in another post, promise).

Solution 2) Switch targets. Your party leader changes the strat and you seduce something else. If you are really quick, you might even be able to seduce something before everything goes to hell and save some of the trouble. (Of course, that only works if people are paying attention to what has hearts above its head and what doesn't).

Option 4) Somebody whacked the mob you were seducing and now it likes them more and has walked into an AOE. Solution: Gain agro, pull, re-seduce. If all that is damaging the beastie is an AOE, searing pain that bad boy until it likes you and get it to come visit you outside of the AOE. You can seduce as soon as it's clear of damage and you'll be good to go.

Part of being a good player, is not just following the plan, but knowing what to do if the plan gets screwed up. Be ready for what you are supposed to do, but also ready for what you can do should something go wrong. You might be a hero!
